Government Arts & Science College, Tholanur was established in 2018, at the heart of Tharoor constituency in Palakkad, Kerala. The college was inaugurated on 12 August 2018 by Hon. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The college is affiliated to the University of Calicut. The first batch of classes commenced on 13 August 2018. The region has 12 schools in the vicinity and the college became a boon to the hundreds of students passing out each year from these schools, seeking higher education, as the college catered to their requirement.

Candidates who have not  studied commerce subject for Higher  Secondary or an  equivalent examination with not less than 45%  marks are also eligible.
 A concession of 5% will be given to OBC/OEC candidates. The SC/ST candidates need get only

B.A Language and Literature HonorsEnglish Candidates who have passed (Eligible for Higher Studies) the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher  Secondary  Examination or any other  examination recognized as equivalent thereto are eligible for  admission.

M.Sc GeographyGeographyB.Sc. Geography degree of this university or equivalent/recognised degree with BA/B.Sc. Geography (Main) with (at least) 50% marks or equivalent grade in Core (Part III excluding subsidiaries). OBC/OEC candidates are eligible to relaxation up to 5%. SC/ST candidates need only to get a pass (as per the university norms).
